Sorry - a cultural difference is cropping up here.
As a Canadian, I'm used to health insurance and relatively easy (if not always
immediate) access to specialists. I just assumed that anyone suffering from
carpal tunnel would be being treated and see a specialist as a matter of course.
I forgot that Americans might have a different set of assumptions.
By all means, some guidance in planning the exercises is important. True, the
extremely mild sessions I suggested - about 15 minutes a day - are unlikely to
cause further injury. However, at the very least, a carpal tunnel sufferer
should consult about when it would be safe to start after any treatment
(especially surgery!). A therapist could also suggest which exercises would
benefit in a particular case.
