In some contexts, "municipal waste" is used to refer to fluid waste
(sewage) rather than solid waste (trash or garbage). In that context,
both household waste and industrial waste are collected by a
municial sewer system and treated in municipal waste treatment
plants, with clean water and "residual municipal waste" (e.g. sludge)
as end products.

As far as solid waste goes, there may be some distinction between
biodegradable waste (garbage) versus non-biological waste (trash)
which may be further categorized as combustible, non-combustible,
and recyclable.

Hello everyone!

We need to include in our product documentation a small section about recycling or disposal of electronic products in the European Union (WEEE).

Simple question: when asking users not to dispose of the product in the regular waste, can we use the expression "municipal waste"? Would "household waste" be better?

I was told that in some countries, waste is not managed by municipal entities, so I want to ensure I use a correct text.

Thanks for your help!
F.
