TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
The continuing debate demonstrates to me that there is no
"true rule," merely prevailing convention, which means that
regardless of which I prefer, there will inevitably be some
client or customer with a checkbook somewhere who prefers
it the other way. Therefore, since the "obsolete" double
space that I was raised on and still default to is the easiest
to change to its opposite, I choose that as my preference.
What's the point of retraining yourself when you can do it
any way you prefer and have it either way with the click of
a button?
