PDF files converted from Word using PDFMaker? Yes, I've come across
this, yet another idiosyncrasy of our old friend. Sometimes PDFMaker
miscalculates the position of the text and puts the link hotspot in
the wrong place. Common causes are
1. Paragraphs with both Space Before and Space After, where Tools
Options Compatibility has the "Don't use HTML paragraph auto-spacing"
option is unchecked.
2. Paragraphs with inline graphics
To fix it, proceed as follows
- Open the document in Acrobat.
- Go to Tools, Advanced Editing, Link Tool
All the links on the page will now be visible. Hold down Shift and
click on the ones that are out of place to select them. Then use the
mouse to drag them into position. Repeat as necessary on each page.
You might need to go to Edit, Preferences, Units & Guides and increase
the "Subdivisions" figure so that the link positions can be moved with
reasonably fine granularity.
(All directions are for Acrobat 8, other versions might have some
differences in the locations of tools & menus)
Regards
Jonathan West
