The only thing that really saves my "collective" in the home environment is
"forced discipline". This is where my past life as a SysAdmin comes in
handy. I've set up a Blackout profile on my router.
Basically, I can click a button and it will block certain ports, traffic,
etc. for specific time periods that I specify. To disable it, I have to
consciously go in and shut it off...by then I've come to my senses and
gotten back to work. I also have a smartphone which is connected to the
office "lifeline" if there's an emergency (I'm a Tech Writer...rarely is
there an emergency).
Works VERY well for me.
As for working outside...I worked for an outdoors magazine for some years.
Got very used to writing and working outside in very distracting
environments under deadline...hehehe.
