Sounds like a classic case of a corrupted Word file. You yourself have
referred to as such.
Only solution (that I know of) is to open it as txt, if you can...
Then reapply all required formatting...
YMMV....:)
Oh, you might want to close Word and reboot your computer, that will
clear out a lot of problems.
