The manager I mentioned, at a past contract job, was in the same position I was: our technical publications group had been moved from the engineering department into the marketing department. We were trying to create "more of a marketing feel" to the Preface and Introduction of our manuals . . . God help us.

So, he hadn't totally (drunk the coolaid) adopted a Marketing frame of mind, and had some criticisms of his own. We were looking at Marketing pieces and reading sections to each other. His contribution:

"Trade-Mangler IV users enjoy direct connectivity via the S.W.I.F.T network and I.S.O protocol to custodian banks." Snort. "Let's hope not."

See -- tech writers never tell anyone that stuff is going to be *enjoyable.*
