Hi,

I am forwarding a couple of job descriptions. Two of the positions are
for managers, one for the Austin, Texas area and another in Rome, Italy.
One is for an online wiz in Austin (a post you may have seen already).

Position #1: Online Information Senior Architect

Tivoli Systems Inc. is the world's largest software provider focused

headquartered in Austin, Texas and offers global sales, consulting, and

worldwide use Tivoli products to maximize their IT investments.

A position is available in the Information Development and Design unit for
an enthusiastic, team oriented, lateral thinker, to spearhead the
development and introduction of a comprehensive online information
delivery strategy for Tivoli Systems, Inc.

Position Summary
To develop and implement a comprehensive, up-to-date help system with a
full set of features (such as table of contents, comprehensive indexing,
searching capabilities, enhanced printing capabilities, access
to FAQs) with the most effective user-centric solution.

To provide a single source, cross platform method of creating and
distributing both online and context-sensitive materials with Tivoli
products.

To ease the writer/help developer/product developer/product manager task
of developing online materials for multiple platforms and multiple
languages for the creation of online help content and its display.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Tivoli's strategies for online help, smart guides,
wizards and other online strategies which delivers user centric information
- Develop and maintain an online product knowledge base which reduces
support calls
- Participate in the development of an ongoing customer feedback program
for information development
- Coordinate online document testing for suitable design, usability and
functionality
- Support localization, consistency, tool selection, style, production and
translation issues
- Work with information developers, project and development managers, and
senior managers, to increase their knowledge and understanding of online
issues
- Develop processes in conjunction with Raleigh and Rome to support a
worldwide release of products
- Track industry trends, such as developing standards (HTML Help, Net Help,
Java Help, etc.) and what these trends/developments mean to Tivoli?s online
document development.
- Evaluate 3rd party tools as they relate to Tivoli?s online document
development.
- Work with consultants to develop the best strategy forward for usability.

Requirements
- Extensive usability experience, incorporating tools knowledge and the
development of online strategies
- Project management experience, incorporating managing cross-functional
teams and budget management
- Appropriate university degree (for example, Communication, Computer
Science, Usability Engineering)
- Ability to work with a team to develop best solutions

Positions #2 + 3: Information Development and Design Manager, Austin,
Texas (also Rome,
Italy)

Responsibilities:

- Participate in the development of Tivoli's documentation vision and
strategies, including online smart guides, wizards and other online
strategies
- Develop processes in conjunction with the other development sites in
Raleigh and Rome, Italy to support localization, tool selection, style,
production and translation issues
- Develop processes in conjunction with Raleigh and Rome to support a
worldwide release of products
- Participate in the development of information delivery strategies which
delivers user centric information using available technologies
- Participate in the development and maintenance of an online product
knowledge base which reduces support calls
- Participate in the development of an ongoing customer feedback program
for information development
- Ensure standards for documentation are followed
- Manage the budget; including contract and tools expenses, process
changes, translation activities and salaries
- Help recruit and retain outstanding writers by providing career paths,
writer growth and development, and supporting strong writer ownership at
the product level.

Requirements:

- Ideally two years management experience, incorporating staff and
budgetary responsibilities
- Strong project management skills to manage aggressive product schedules
and balancing resources
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work with
people from different cultures
- Appropriate university degree (for example, Communication, Computer
Science, Languages, Journalism) or equivalent experience)
- Experience as a technical writer preferred
