From a software engineering perspective, localization can be considered a
process of translating or customizing an existing software product to
accommodate the needs of a particular culture. This typically involves not
only translating documentation but also software features. This should not
be confused with internationalization (also known as globalization) of a
product. This is the process of engineering a product to make localization
easier.
