Karen, there are multiple sources for such information, many of which are
listed on the site below. Try uidesign.com, useit.com, upa.com. There is
also a specific study on shopping carts that you should find listed at
uidesign.com. This is an incredibly rich field, right now, and you can save
yourself lots of time and reading by going to sites that are focused on Web
usability issue, such as those mentioned above.
If you got to Creative Good's site, they put out a white paper on ecommerce
design last fall that is free and very useful.

issues and information architecture. Try searching on shopping cart.
