They seem to be happier to be able to radically underquote their
competition. But - for a closer analogy - should we paid more to single
source? After all, although we only wrote it once, we produced a half dozen
different publications from it...

just curious: how does the translator compensate for the cost of the
translation memory system? and the time invested to master it?

after all, as a tech writer, when you repeat the same phrase in your text,
do you get paid less for writing it? would you accept that? and would you
even invest in a system that would ensure you were paid less?
